My thoughts on and response to Covid-19

It’s been a challenge to process what is happening in our world, in our hometown, in our neighborhood. I have understandably seen couples all over the Seattle area choose to cancel or postpone their planned weddings, families cancel their planned portrait sessions, and photographer networking events get cancelled or moved online. It is easy to be scared, especially with so much uncertainty.

I want the couples and families that work with me to feel as safe as possible, as well as supported no matter what happens with their wedding and portrait session plans. While I will continue to take every precaution to ensure my own health, including social distancing as recommended and following all other health department guidelines, I understand that many couples and families will make the hard decision to cancel or postpone their plans.

It is important to me that my clients know I support them no matter their decision, to go ahead as planned or cancel, and that I will be as accomodating as possible. If you are a client of mine, these are my plans and policies moving forward in response to Covid-19:

  • If you postpone your wedding as a result of Covid-19 concerns your paid retainer will be applied to your rescheduled wedding date if your new date is within one year of your originally scheduled wedding day.

  • If you postpone your wedding as a result of Covid-19 and it is rescheduled to a day that I am already booked you will receive a refund of your retainer less the cost of any services already rendered (i.e. engagement session).

  • If you postpone your family or portrait session as a result of Covid-19 your paid retainer will be applied to a rescheduled date or you may ask for a refund of your retainer.

  • If I were to start exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19 or have to self-quarantine and your event is within 14 days you will have the option to cancel your booking and receive a refund or I will have an associate photographer work at your event in my place.

  • If you would like to utilize my studio for a portrait session, please be assured that every effort to maintain a clean environment is already taken, but additional steps to sanitize surfaces within the studio and restroom prior to your session will be taken.

  • If we have a chance to work together in-person I will avoid hugging people for the time being. As much as I LOVE hugs I know keeping some space improves our odds of staying safe, so for now I will stick to smiles, waves, and elbow bumps.

If you have any other concerns or questions, I welcome them at any time and am always happy to help, regardless of the circumstances. With some patience, calm, and adherence to any guidelines passed down from the health department and CDC I am confident we can push past this soon and start to resume our normal plans and activities. Until then, please be safe and stay healthy friends. I love you all!
